The focus of this math class is preparing students for the more abstract concepts of Algebra. Students will study numbers and operations, including ways of representing numbers, relationships among numbers, and number systems. They will understand meanings of operations and how they relate to each other and will learn to compute fluently. Students will be introduced to Algebra concepts, solving for unknowns and using mathematical language to represent and understand quantitative relationships. Students will also analyze characteristics and properties of two and three dimensional geometric shapes and calculate volumes, areas, and surface areas of these shapes. Upon completion of this course students will be prepared to study Algebra I. Parents will receive the teacher’s edition and DVD to assist students at home.
